Love should Strengthen and NOT Weaken..
Sometimes, one must draw a line in the sand of their life. We must establish rules in regards to the things that are essential to us. If one has no rules or standards in their life, then anything goes. People will trample all over us, and our life, if we have no stopping point for them. If one is not clear to them, as to what is acceptable and unacceptable. It is difficult to do this with the people that we love, because love sometimes blinds ones ability to see clearly.
Love is such a powerful emotion that it is sometimes confused with enabling. However I have learned that I can love someone with all my heart, but; I must love that person enough, as to NOT enable them or do things for them that weaken them and not strengthen them.
I say again..., love should strengthen another, not weaken them or prevent them from doing for themselves. We must step back and then take a look at the person we love, and truly see, if we are showing them love or simply doing for them what they should be doing for themselves.
This should not be confused with helping a person to grow, by empowering them with the tools they need to grow as a person. Give them the tools and then let them GO.. One cannot GIVE a man a fish, he must teach him HOW to fish. By teaching him to fish, he owns the skill, and can use it for years to come. It is a gift that keeps on giving. It also frees us from doing for others what they should be doing for themselves.
Grown people should make grown decisions, and if they do NOT, then they must suffer the consequences of their poor choices. They must be given the opportunity to experience their poor choices, so that they can begin to make better choices. If they are continuously rescued from their poor choices, then they will never see what they should be doing differently.
So this week Ladies, strengthen the people in your life with your LOVE--and NOT weaken them.Allow them to experience their choices and love them through it.
Go Forth and Do Great Things!
Kind Regards,
Pauline
