Choices

Image
When I think of how much I have gone through in my life and how much good and bad I have done, it makes me realize just how far I have come. I realize that life is full of good and bad choices and depending on where we are in our growth, we still  have the potential of making bad choices. However, when we have no rules or laws in our life then the possibility of making a bad choice is inevitable. When we have no standards to live by, we continue to make choices based on old ways of thinking. We are continuously confronted with opportunities to make better choices, but if we have no laws or rules to live by, we continue to make the same mistakes, we continue to find ourselves at that same juncture in the road. That has the signs--" turn left and do right "or "turn right and do wrong". Sometimes our decisions are difficult--- sometimes the right choice is the wrong and the wrong choice is the right. But one thing I know for sure,is that if our choices are filtere

Authenticity

Image
Take off the shades is what a recent colleague spoke about, be your authentic self! Your authentic self is a cumulation of all of your experiences. We start off as little girls when the mind is just a little sponge that consumes everything around us. The wonder is in our eyes and everything has possibilities. We begin to develop, and the mind continues to be a sponge, absorbing all of our experiences, and eventually we begin to build our own ideals and our own paradigms about who we are, and who we want the world to see. We never lose our wonder though because that is what keeps us in a state a learning and receptive to new experiences. Some times we have mentors that help to shape our ideals and other times we form them independent of the people around us. Whether shaped by mentors or independently, we develop a sense of whom we are, and that sense of whom we are depicts what we travel with as we go into the world. The shades are representative of hiding behind others words

Releasing "The Butterfly" Within

Sometimes in life, after years of hurt, disappointment, failures and perceived rejections; we develop a guard around us for protection. This guard serves us like a shield to protect us from further hurt. This guard is like a safety net that propels hurtful people and circumstances away from us. This guard feels as though it is a part of your natural skin, but it is removable. We can take it off whenever we like ; and like a window, we can lower it, and bring it up when we choose. Sometimes we need the window lowered and other times we can open it wide as to allow people and circumstances in to interact with us. Our guard also serves as a filter; and like the screen in a window, people and circumstances get filtered through our sense of judgement. That sounds an alarm when the window needs to be lowered or sprung open. Years ago someone told me that I appeared to be extremely guarded ; and I never fully understood what she meant. After years of getting in touch with myself, I realized

Achievement

Approaching the finish line is a very exhilarating feeling. When we can see the finish line in a distance, it motivates us to continue on.We recognize that our hopes and dreams are about to be realized. Time stops and we gain tunnel vision with our actions. Our actions become a little more directed and focused.Because we know that the end is near and that just ahead, is all that we have been working towards The adrenaline begins to flow through our body and we gain super powerful energy. We feel a sense of fear coupled with a sense of relief. We look around us and recognize just how far we have come and just how far we have to go. It is an amazing feeling to achieve that in which we have set out to do..it tells us that all things are truly possible and that achieving our goals merely takes, focusing on that in which we desire and; through all the twist and turns of life, knowing that if we really want something for our life, we must give that something all that we have in order to a

Love should Strengthen and NOT Weaken..

Image
Sometimes, one must draw a line in the sand of their life. We must establish rules in regards to the things that are essential to us. If one has no rules or standards in their life, then anything goes. People will trample all over us, and our life, if we have no stopping point for them. If one is not clear to them, as to what is acceptable and unacceptable. It is difficult to do this with the people that we love, because love sometimes blinds ones ability to see clearly. Love is such a powerful emotion that it is sometimes confused with enabling. However I have learned that I can love someone with all my heart, but; I must love that person enough, as to NOT enable them or do things for them that weaken them and not strengthen them. I say again..., love should strengthen another, not weaken them or prevent them from doing for themselves. We must step back and then take a look at the person we love, and truly see, if we are showing them love or simply doing for them what they should b

Spiritual Pruning...

Image
I believe that trees are a beautiful gift from God. I love to take an overgrown tree and turn it into something beautiful. I look at the tree and prune away branches that have died or that have become to large. Once the unnecessary branches are pruned away, the tree is ready to show off its majesty. This is the case of how GOD works in our life. He is continuously pruning unnecessary things from our lives while he silently works on us. By taking away those things that block us from showing the majestic gifts that he has so graciously implanted in us. We all have spiritual gifts and once we tap into Christ. He will slowly and methodically reveal those gifts; but, we must first get silent enough within ourselves to allow him to uncover them. If you simply listen and watch for his direction, he directs us by means of the people around us and situations that we encounter. How many times in your life has a situation, or a person, taught you something about yourself ? When this happens i
